Starring Michael Fassbender, of X-Men Origins, Shame and Inglorious Basterds fame, cast in an unknown important role in the movie (Might be Desmond, Altair or both), the story will be set around the premise of the first game. It has no director attached to it, but it does have a release date. The 22nd ofMay 2015, covering Memorial Day weekend in the US. Unlike Ubisoft’s previous foray into videogame-based movie, Prince of Persia, Ubi itself will be assuming part of the production role to ensure that both lore and creative direction from the game transitions properly into the movie.

Hollywood actors and directors should be lining up to sign up to what is sure to be a blockbuster 2015 movie.

What do you guys think? Excited?

In its latest Nintendo Direct held on May 17, 2013 Nintendo announced a brand new game for its WiiU. The game is none other then Super Luigi U. However, this is more of an expansion pack, if you like, for New Super Mario Bros. U released earlier. The game will star, like you guessed, Luigi in a modified version of the already existing campaign making the levels “all-new”.

The game will also feature Nabbit, a little creature first seen in NSMBU, as a playable character in multiplayer mode. While he was only there in NSMBU to chase you around levels, as a character here he’ll have the advantage of not receiving damage at the cost of losing the ability to use power-ups.

It will be available as a digital download as DLC for NSMBU on June 20 for 19.99$ and as a standalone retail game on August 25 in North America, and July 26 in Europe for 29.99$.

The world’s greatest detective will be back this year. Batman is returning, not to the silver screen though, but to your own personal screen. Back in April, Warner Bros and Game Informer announced the newest entry to the Batman Arkham gaming franchise. After the massive success of developer Rocksteady’s Arkham Asylum, labeled by the Guinness World Book of Records as the best rated superhero game ever, and the infinitely upgraded and wonderful sequel Arkham City, Warner announced the third game, in the form of a prequel set many years before the first, called Arkham Origins. Unlike the other two, this game has changed developing houses.

While Rocksteady will be offering some help and ensure the overall quality is up to standard, Warner Bros Montreal is leading this project. The latter studio has some experience in the franchise as they ported Arkham City onto the Wii U. Promising to offer new gameplay mechanics while improving on the older ones, this game should offer a fresh new adventure with a less experienced and weak Bruce Wayne/Batman, and a wealth of baddies, starting with Deathstroke and Black Mask. A list had been leaked a couple of weeks back, hinting to possible appearances from Joker, Bane, Killer Croc, Scarecrow and Deadshot are all included in the game in some way or another.

And now, WB has finally given us a first glance on their new hotly anticipated games, in the form of a teaser trailer. The game’s setting had already been confirmed as a more expanded Gotham City during the Christmas season. The CG teaser trailer offers a tease at a badass fight between DeathStroke and the Dark Knight. Check it out below.

A multiplayer mode has been rumored for quite a while, with no confirmation from the involved parties.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be releasing on October 25th on PC, Wii U, PS3 and 360. A spin-off game will be landing on the same day on the handheld platforms, the Vita and 3DS, under the name or Arkham Origins Blackgate. In development in Retro veteran studio, Armature Studio, the game is a 2.5D side scroller that promises to offer a mix of Mark of the Ninja with Metrodvania style gameplay.

Im honestly excited for both! Be sure to check back on May 20th, when WB reveal the full length trailer!

Sega. The moment you hear that word a certain blue spiky figure screeches into your mind. Yep, im talking about Sonic (Did anyone think of anything else?). Sega’s biggest mascot, and a figure once considered to be the biggest rival to Nintendo’s renowned mascot, Mario. That is all in the past. Sega exited the hardware business and now they (Mario and Sonic) work together, across several cross franchise games between Sega and Nintendo, and Sonic has appeared on practically every platform on the planet.

Well, it seems he will be back for more this year. We already knew after leaks and insider sources that a new Sonic game would be greeting us this year. Sonic games as of recent years have been finding a difficult time adjusting to new gameplay mechanics between the 2D and 3D schemes and franchise fatigue. However, the two most recent releases, with Sonic Colors on Wii and Sonic Generations on PS3 and 360 have found the perfect mix of both old and new mechanics. I can only hope that the upcoming release follows their regards in terms of gameplay.

Leak time! Sonic is inbound!

Many questions remain though. Which platforms will it release on? Next gen or current? Will we see and play as any of Sonic’s old time friends?

Stay tuned for updates soon!

Remember Me is an upcoming action adventure game from publisher Capcom, and developer Dontnod. Formerly known as Adrift, when it was under the Sony Computer Entertainment branch, Remember Me promises to be a game with the calibur and greatness of big releases like Assassin’s Creed, especially since a major chunk of the people in Dontnod used to work in Ubisoft. We, the gamer, play as Nilin, a memory hunter working against a mass propaganda based memory storage corporation known as MEMORIZE. And there you have it, the game’s wonderful premise, memory manipulation. Giving you the tools to hack into people’s memories to retrace or even alter certain events (which may have never existed in the first place), Remember Me offers a fresh new twist on the open world stealth/action gameplay we have become accustomed to in AC or Ubisoft’s own upcoming game, Watch_Dogs.

Which brings us to the newest trailer of the game courtesy of youtube filmmaker devinsupertramp. While low on gameplay videos or story details, it does brilliantly manage to show us how social interaction has become something of fiction and fantasy in recent times. Even though it showcases a video which may be a product of MEMORIZE, the trailer in itself is a brilliant master piece and ode to our modern lives. Im absolutely in love with it. Why? Well, check it out yourself.

And for those of you who have yet to know Remember Me, check out the following story trailer.

Remember Me launches on PS3 and Xbox 360 on June 4th and 7th in North America and Europe respectively.

The Wii U, Nintendo’s latest and greatest console. We reviewed it at the beginning of the year and found that although it has what it takes to be great, it is still lacking, with minor software issues and a lack of good games. However, as of late, Nintendo has been coming under fire due to the Wii U being apparently weak in comparison to upcoming next gen competitor release in the form of the PS4 and the new Xbox. EA have announced that the Frostbite 3 engine which will power Battlefield 4, upcoming Star Wars and Mass Effect games will not run on the Wii U among several other studios, one of which is Just Cause developer. Avalanche Studios, who have outright said that the Wii U devkit is collecting dust in their office.

Which brings us to our rumor today, courtesy of TV Tropes. They are reporting that after the latest Wii U firmware upgrade, which has shown significant improvement in menu loading time, had another hidden upgrade. What they are reporting is that the CPU has been over clocked to 3.24 GHz from 1.24 GHz, and that the GPU is now at 800 MHz from 550 MHz.

I would like to remind you that it is a rumor, and that they have not cited significant sources.

CPU: IBM PowerPC 7xx-based tri-core processor “Espresso” clocked at 1.24 GHz before the 3.0.0 update, 3.24 GHz after the 3.0.0 update. This is an evolution to the Broadway chip used in the Wii, is 64 bit and uses Power6 technote When IBM has said that Nintendo has licensed the Power7 tech from IBM, Nintendo is not using it for the Wii U, explaining its backwards compatibility.

GPU: AMD Radeon High Definition processor codenamed “Latte” with an eDRAM cache built onto the die clocked at 550 MHz before the 3.0.0 update, 800 MHz after the 3.0.0 update.

What do you guys think?

Saints Row. A game franchise that as of late has been compared to the Grand Theft Auto series. The first two in the series did offer some serious competition to the likes of GTA: San Andreas and GTA 4. However, with the latest release, Saints Row The Third, developer Volition decided to widen the gap between SR and GTA and introducing a more fictional realm into the open world setting. Adding giant dildo bats, vertical flying jets, laser guns, mars missions and much more, SR3 became a sandbox of fun and silly open world gameplay.

Many criticized the change, while others welcomed it with arms wide open. Commercially it was the most successful of the three releases, and as such Volition and then publisher THQ (RIP) decided to develop an expansion pack to add to the insanity, which then was turned into a full fledged sequel in the form of Saints Row 4. THQ went under and Volition was sold to Dead Island publisher Deep Silver, and together officially announced the forth iteration.

Ditching the realm of realism, you now assume responsibility of the president of the USA. The insane twist however is that the USA is under attack. And no, it is not the Russians, not the Chinese not the Koreans It is ALIENS! Adding to that they have also added super powers to the mix with flight capabilities, building running, freezing powers and even a dub-step gun that kills people by dropping the base.

Freezing Powers!

Check out the latest trailer right below, to get a taste of the insanity.

And why not check a six minute gameplay video while you are at it, right below.

The game will be releasing in August on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Volition confirmed that they dont want to scrutinize their work by dividing up their task force on working on next gen iterations, so that means no PS4 or 720/Xbox8/XboxNext version.

If you preorder the game you get a free upgrade to the Commander in Chief edition with three exclusive items in the form of the first being an Uncle Sam outfit, the second being the ‘MURICA Gun, combining every type of gun known to man in one gun (No seriously, chain gun, sniper rifle, bazooka, shotgun etc…) to truly embody the American spirit, and the third being the Eagle Jet, with a fire breathing beak and missile equipped talons.

The Commander in Chief Pre-order Items

So what do you think? Is Volition crossing the line? Or are you psyched to get your hands on it?

As the launch date approaches, we are getting more and more excited to get our hands on Naughty Dog’s latest PS3 outing, the Last of Us. Following the release of their latest trailer and development diary here, Sony and ND have unleashed yet another surprise. A surprise to the ears, in the form of the game’s soundtrack. Composed by the wonderfully talented and Oscar Nominated Gustavo Santaolalla, of Babel fame, the soundtrack reflects the sense of both hope and desperation in the game, and shows you that to make something truly emotional and nerve wrecking, you need to have the right music. A la Journey, im sure this game’s soundtrack will move a lot of people emotionally and maybe even commercially.

One unfortunate thing must be noted, the music that follows is all in 50 seconds snippet form. Surely, Sony doesnt want people to listen to the entire soundtrack now.

[WARNING]: Try to avoid reading the song titles as they might reflect some of the game’s plot updates. Just press play, sit back and relax and enjoy the music!

As always, stay tuned for the latest news on the impending release of Last of Us.

The Last of Us releases exclusively on PS3 on the 14th of June.

BOOM! Hear that? Yep, the dynamite just went BOOM! Right off the heels of buying Lucas Films and all its subsidiaries, including the game developers of Star Wars and various other IP, Lucas Arts, Disney closed down the latter subsidiary in hopes of finding a more profitable licensing agreement with third party publishers. Well, it appears that Disney has found a new home for upcoming Star Wars-related games, and yep it is EA. Both have just announced the deal, barely 3 days after the infamous May the 4th “Star Wars” day. With EA being referred to by some as the worst company in America, and generally hated by a majority of gamers, i know this news isnt the best news ever, but remember the developers EA houses and the years and quality of experience behind them.

What does the deal mean? Well, basically EA will have full right to develop big budget AAA Star Wars games for PCs and consoles, while Disney handles development on mobile, social and tablet platforms. EA will be handling development and publishing costs, while Disney will be reaping the benefits from the licensing.

Why would it be big?

Well, i have three words for you. DICE, Bioware and Visceral. EA have confirmed that all the aforementioned three devs are working hard on Star Wars related games.

Well imagine Battlefield’s DICE working on Battlefront 3 with its Frostbite engine, or Mass Effect’s and Star Wars’ own Bioware finally answering our deepest prayers with a Knights of the Old Republic 3 release, and Dead Space’s Visceral taking on dev duties for Star Wars 1313. Wouldn’t that just be awesome?

Now, dont get too excited, we have no clue as to what the aforementioned EA devs are exactly working on, or whether EA will be continuing old Lucas Arts properties, such as the rumored downloadable FPS Star Wars: First Assault, the heavily delayed and remade Battlefront 3, and the glorious yet unseen Star Wars 1313. They might be working on completely and entirely new games, which we would still welcome with arms wide open.

In any case, we cant wait to see what arises, and i must say, “The force is strong with this one!”.

Press release below.

BURBANK & REDWOOD CITY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) and Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) today announced a new multi-year exclusive licensing agreement to develop and publish globally new games based on Star Wars characters and storylines.

Under the agreement, EA will develop and publish new Star Wars titles for a core gaming audience, spanning all interactive platforms and the most popular game genres, while Disney will retain certain rights to develop new titles within the mobile, social, tablet and online game categories.

“This agreement demonstrates our commitment to creating quality game experiences that drive the popularity of the Star Wars franchise for years to come,” said John Pleasants, Co-President of Disney Interactive. “Collaborating with one of the world’s premier game developers will allow us to bring an amazing portfolio of new Star Wars titles to our fans around the world.”

“Every developer dreams of creating games for the Star Wars universe,” said EA Labels President Frank Gibeau. “Three of our top studios will fulfill that dream, crafting epic adventures for Star Wars fans. DICE and Visceral will produce new games, joining the BioWare team which continues to develop for the Star Wars franchise. The new experiences we create may borrow from films, but the games will be entirely original with all new stories and gameplay.”

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

UPDATE: DICE has confirmed, via this tweet, that the Star Wars games they will be developing along with Visceral’s will be powered by the Frostbite 3 engine.

The new Star Wars games we at @ea_dice & @visceralgames will make will all be built with Frostbite 3: ea.com/news/ea-and-di… (of course!)

As we all know, this year marks a tremendous one in gaming. With a ton of new IP coming out in the past few months, and more yet to come, and the next generation of consoles upon us, 2013 has been awesome. However, one of said new IPs is none other than “Last of Us”. From the creators of Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter and Uncharted, Naughty Dog wanted to give the PS3 the swan song of a game.

Announced during the VGAs of 2011 and hyped by every person on the planet, Last of Us is a post apocalyptic third person shooter, featuring zombies (but unlike what we have seen before). The game focuses on two individuals, Joel, our playable protagonist with a dark and mysterious past, and Ellie, a 14 year old kid being accompanying Joel on a journey to a safe zone for unknown reasons.

Sony and Naughty Dog have released a new developer video, showcasing the infected non-zombies of LoU. Their discussion also plunges deeper into the turbulent but vital relationship between Joel and Ellie, as unlikely a pair of game protagonists as you’re likely to find.

We cannot wait to get our hands on this beautiful game, and sure to be GOTY contender. After a delay to the initial release plan, which was supposed to be today the 7th of May, Last of Us will be launching on the 14th of June exclusively on PS3.

We, gamers, of course know about Ubisoft. The mega publishing giant that has produced classic and blockbuster franchises such as PoP (Prince of Persia), AC (Assassin’s Creed), the Tom Clancy series among others. And at last year’s E3, they surprised everyone with the announcement of what was possible the first Next Gen game, as well as being a brand new IP. Watch_Dogs. An open world game that promises to mix the fun from Assassin’s Creed roaming gameplay in a modern setting, added to a hacking factor in a hyper connected future world that is sure to be brilliant.

Hype has been through the roof for this game, and i will probably getting day one alongside the PS4. And speaking about the PS4, be sure to check out the video below that will offer you a glimpse of the PS4 version, and what should differentiate it against other platforms (Wii U, Xbox 360, PS3 and Xbox 720).

Promising to harness the full power of the PS4 console, with the help of Sony and Playstation, Ubisoft is promising it to be the definitive version, with a 60-min exclusive gameplay section on Playstation Platforms.

Note the teaser that suggests that the PS4 version will offer mechanics similar to the game, in the sense that it might allow you to play the game on your mobile via the PS4.

Why now? How the hell did I remember the 3DO? The truth is that I wasn’t particularly searching for one, nor even thinking about it; I simply was performing some random vintage gaming searches online, on Amazon and eBay mostly.

And there was the encounter. Listed on eBay at around USD 180, it came as a total surprise and a massive vintage splash. It made me smile.

I roamed around my old Tech magazines and then again a bit more on the internet, trying to revive old 3DO memories. “If you think you’ve seen graphics, wait ’til you check out the jaw-dropping visuals offered by this interactive system”, this is what Time magazine had to say about Panasonic’s 3DO back in 1993.

Let us quick-jump in the past: the 3DO was the first mass-selling CD-playing 32-bit gaming console. But what was particular about it was the fact that 3DO Interactive, the company behind the platform, only issued licenses, allowing multiple manufacturers to build consoles: Sanyo, Creative (remember these?!), GoldStar (LG’s ancestor) and of course, Panasonic. Of course, because Panasonic’s version was the most popular back then.

So how did it fade away? Sony’s PlayStation came in and blew all budgetary considerations down, with a price tag of USD 480 (roughly), while the 3DO was selling at around USD 780. How should we remember the 3DO? Games well truly well made for the era and rather cheap. And that it also was a pioneering platform.

Why Even Write About the 3DO?

“If you think you’ve seen graphics, wait ’til you check out the jaw-dropping visuals offered by this interactive system” – Times Magazine

If you’re crazy about vintage stuff, and crazy about gaming, you have there two major reasons to read this article. This hence gives me a motive to write the article. Because you collect gaming consoles; because you want to open a vintage store, a vintage cafe, or some similar sort of venue. You’d tell me why not write about Atari’s Jaguar? I though about that, and frankly, the 3DO is gorgeous and had far better graphics than the Jag. Why not Nintendo’s Super NES? Because running the same titles on both machines will give you better overall experience on the 3DO (try Street Fighter II).

OK, so what game titles should you try to get for your “freshly” acquired 3DO? Aside from the above-mentioned Street Fighter II Turbo, you should definitely head for Need for Speed. This best-selling urban racing series was born on the 3DO, so get it back home to the womb and play the heck out of it. Then make sure you check The Daedalus Encounter. Flying probes, alien spaceships and Tia Carrere. Three totally valid reasons. Star Control is definitely something you’d like to try. Just for the sake of playing One of the oldest RPGs in gaming History. Space Hulk is a nice adventure title. Alone in the Dark is a title you definitely have to own, since it was the very title that confirmed the survival horror gaming genre. GEX and FIFA are definite keepers too.

A new year is upon us, and we are almost half way through it and Activision has found it suitable to finally announce a brand new Call of Duty. After a ton of speculation and rumors, it has been confirmed that the next CoD will indeed be coming on the 5th of November this year from the team that created the CoD franchise, and the marvelous CoD 4: Modern Warfare, Infinity Ward. However, unlike recent CoD releases which marked sequels to the Modern Warfare and Black Ops subtitle, this one is promised to be a completely new experience with new character and a new setting and a completely brand new next generation engine!

Meet Call of Duty: Ghosts!

SANTA MONICA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Prepare for the next generation of Call of Duty®. The franchise that has defined a generation of gaming is set to raise the bar once again with the all-new Call of Duty®: Ghosts. Published by Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard (Nasdaq: ATVI), and developed by Infinity Ward, the studio that created the original Call of Duty and the seminal Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® series, Call of Duty: Ghosts ushers in the next generation of the franchise. The new title delivers a riveting all-new gameplay experience built on an entirely new story, setting and cast of characters, all powered by a new, next generation Call of Duty engine that redefines the series for the next generation.

“Infinity Ward set the gold standard for first-person action for a generation, and they’re going to do it again with Call of Duty: Ghosts,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc. “Ghosts delivers an all-new story, all-new characters, an all-new Call of Duty world, all powered by a next generation Call of Duty engine, which is a leap forward for the franchise. Infinity Ward is going all-in to create the next generation of Call of Duty worthy of the world’s greatest fans.”

“Everyone was expecting us to make Modern Warfare 4, which would have been the safe thing to do. But we’re not resting on our laurels,” said Mark Rubin, executive producer of developer Infinity Ward. “We saw the console transition as the perfect opportunity to start a new chapter for Call of Duty. So we’re building a new sub-brand, a new engine, and a lot of new ideas and experiences for our players. We can’t wait to share them with our community.”

To see an exclusive first look at Call of Duty: Ghosts tune in to Xbox: the Next Generation Revealed on May 21 at 10AM PDT on Xbox.com, Xbox LIVE or SPIKE TV for the debut of the all-new game from Infinity Ward.

“We are consistently thrilled with the overwhelming response received from critics and consumers alike to the Call of Duty series, which has firmly established its home on the Xbox 360 with the game’s largest and most engaged community,” said Don Mattrick, president of the interactive entertainment business at Microsoft. “With Call of Duty: Ghosts, we have no doubt that our longtime partners, Activision and Infinity Ward, will raise the bar higher than ever before for this incredible franchise.”

Starting today, fans can begin pre-ordering their copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts at retail outlets worldwide.

“There’s no other video game property like Call of Duty. It’s the biggest game franchise on the planet that has had some of the biggest game entertainment launches in history,” said Tony Bartel, president of GameStop. “We are very excited for the launch of Call of Duty: Ghosts, as we transition to next generation consoles.”

Call of Duty: Ghosts will release on Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC on November 5. Call of Duty: Ghosts will also be available for next generation platforms. For the latest intel, check out: http://www.callofduty.com/ghosts,http://www.facebook.com/CODGhosts, or follow on Twitter @InfinityWard. Call of Duty: Ghosts is not yet rated.

Were you expecting a gameplay trailer? Well, not yet. Live action teasers have become a thing of habit to Activision. However, we were promised a complete first exclusive look at the Next Generation Xbox reveal on the 21st of May. As you may have heard, MS announced that the first details of the next Xbox will be announced come the aforementioned date. It is not weird to see MS bagging exclusivity from Acti and CoD, as they have been partners as of late, with timed exclusive DLCs and exclusive marketing on Xbox, and it looks to continue through to the next generation.

All the more reason for us to be excited for the Next Gen Xbox reveal.

Zombie Zombie

Zombies are all over the place. Indeed, we couldn’t help but notice how omnipresent were zombie games, be it on consoles and handhelds, but mostly on smartphones and tablets. Of course, zombies have been a film and comic staple since the early 70′s, but the past fifteen years have seen them take over the gaming scene.

When did those brain-munchers become big business? Let us go on a ride through time, re-visiting most remarkable gaming zombie classics for the past thirty years.

Zombie Zombie – 1974 [Spectrum]

This is arguably the first decent take at zombie gaming. It was set in an isometric 3D world, immensely inspired by Ant Attack. What is so special about it? Well the main character didn’t have any tool to kill the zombies, but had to lure them off high structures instead.

Alone in the Dark – 1992 [PC]

A survival horror classic. You simply had to wander through a mazy environment and avoid zombies rather than killing them. Why is it worth mentioning? Simply because this game was a big seller back then, and it helped solidify the survival genre.

Alone in the Dark

Resident Evil

Resident Evil – 1996 [PlayStation, Saturn, PC]

This is definitely the corner stone of the genre. This game laid down the basics of the third-person splatter-’em-up. This game built on Alone in the Dark’s engine and features, adding much more gore, puzzles and maps.

House of the Dead – 1997 [Arcade]

Remember this one? This light-gunning classic was one of arcade game center’s all-time favorite amongst hardcore gamers, alongside the Daytona racing franchise. We still remember being left penniless, and being hooked to that awesome “shoot outside the screen to reload” gesture. Couldn’t but mention it here, it just popped up in our gaming memory as soon as we started talking about zombie gaming.

Stubbs – Game Cover

Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse – 2005 [PC, Xbox, Mac]

Now this was something because… we got to play the zombie for once! Stylish, original and hilarious, this game reversed the habits, and made zombie gaming, in fact, fun and light.

Left 4 Dead – 2008 [PC, Mac, Xbox 360]

This is the most memorable co-op zombie game back in that time, throwing you and up to three comrades into a sea of half-dead humanoids.

Call of Duty: World At War – 2008 [PlayStation, PC, Wii, Xbox 360]

Wow, what a game! We cannot even begin trying to count the hours and nights spent on the co-op zombie mode of this title. Waves of zombies, added gore, fright and suspense, a plethora of weapons from the past and the future, a mix of both worlds. and time to spare, lots of time. This is the major game that made people addicted to the genre in the latest years. Definitely our biggest title on this list.

Plants vs. Zombies – 2009 [PC, PlayStation, Xbox, DS and Mobile]

Cute and slick, this turned the whole zombie genre into a fun and more accesible one, to be played by early gamers everywhere. It also has the addictive factor of Call of Duty, since it is based on continuous waves of zombies to be repelled through a series of tactical moves. This is also the first zombie big hit on mobile platforms.

The Walking Dead – 2012 [iOS, Mac, PC, PS3, Xbox 360]

Zombie gaming and interactive novels cross in this title. Nothing new, just think of it as a mix between Heavy Rain and Left 4 Dead; but it’s so well written that it will stay with you long after it’s actually over.

Through a video, found below, released earlier today, new details have been shed on the new DualShock 4 controller. The video primarily showcases that this is a controller made by gamers for gamers; Sony went to first-party game developers and asked for specifics on what they’d like to see changed in the next version of the classic DualShock controller to be used with the PS4.

The DualShock 4 vs the DualShock 3.

Firstly, the analog stick design has been modified to have a different feel, the sensitivity of the triggers has also been changed (probably to incorporate more accurate pressure detection when pressing them) and the slew of other features previously covered here. However, Scott Rhode, Sony senior vice president of product development, assures that this will be done “without compromising the basic feel of the DualShock”. Second to be discussed is the most apparent addition to the controller, which is the lightbar added to the top of the controller. In the video, the lightbar is said to be used to track the position of the controller and hence the player in the room. In split-screen multiplayer situations, this will allow for better arrangement of the split-screens on the TV based on where each player is sitting; this can be adjusted if players change positions in the room as well (We can finally say goodbye to the “where am I on the screen?” question).

The second major addition to the controller is the touchpad which is going to be a multi-touch pad that is apparently “very comfortable” for players to use. As seen in the video, players can seamlessly use their fingers and thumbs to use it. Finally, as we’ve known from before, the Share button will allow players to directly share videos and screenshots from their gaming session as they are playing.

Next-Gen Xbox: It’s Coming! (UPDATE: Possible Logo Leaked)

Microsoft has just confirmed, after a plethora of rumors, that it will indeed reveal the next-gen Xbox at a stand-alone event on May 21st. The next-gen Xbox has so far been rumored to have 8GB DDRR3 RAM and an advanced graphics card which will allow it to compete with the PS4. The event, held in Microsoft’s Redmond campus, will be available for live streaming and will hopefully dispel rumors of an always-online Xbox. Microsoft will in a way continue the conference at E3 (June 11-14) but will put more of an emphasis on it’s software line-up.

Mark your calendars for May 21st and check back here for the latest info. and updates.

UPDATE: It seems the new Xbox name and logo have been leaked courtesy of Reddit user, C-Ron, who simply posted “Saved you guys a month of waiting.

Following quite a few teasers, Bethesda Games’ new game, The Evil Within, has finally been announced and to our surprise it’s a new IP that will be developed by Tango Gameworks. More specifically, it will be a survival-horror game from the near-twisted mind of Shinji Mikami, the creator of the infamous Resident Evil series.

The game’s protagonist, Sebastian, is a detective called to a crime scene harnessing some great and mysterious force. After all his fellow police officer are killed off, Sebastian is knocked unconscious and find himself in a world of death and madness when he wakes up. A world crawling with all kinds of monsters that will force Sebastian to face his fears and uncover the truth behind what happened and the cause of the mysterious force. Based on the screenshots, the game will be an over-the-shoulder 3rd person shooter, much like Resident Evil 4 and also seems to borrow some elements from the Silent Hill game series.

Some key features of the game (via Gematsu) will be:

A Return to Pure Survival Horror: From the father of the survival horror genre, Shinji Mikami. He appears once again as the director of this game, one which makes your blood run cold, but heats you right back up. Players must survive on limited resources, experiencing that supreme match of action and horror, that indescribable terror. To survive in an afflicted world, your anxiety and nerves will be pushed to the edge.

Brutal Traps and Enemies with Puzzles: While struggling to survive, you’ll have to face indescribable terror, cruel traps, and sly mechanisms. Players can die in a trap all too easily, however, at times they can turn them against enemies.

In an Unstable World, Not All Horrors are in Plain Sight: The player is driven into a corner as the world distorts and warps according to mysterious and evil horrors. The scenery: hallways, walls, doors, rooms, buildings, and even nature, all transforming in real time based on the player’s actions. And the threats keep coming from all directions.

A Supernova of Horror: By setting one foot in this world weaved from lush backdrops, characters with personality, and a polished story, players will be sucked in, willing or unwilling, tension and anxiety rapidly mounting. When that fear is smashed and conquered, you can experience the bliss that can only be found in The Evil Within.

The live action debut trailer can be found below. The Evil Within is expected to release in 2014 on the Xbox 360, the PS3, PC and next-gen consoles.
